Key Responsibilities • Cleaning and Decontamination: Properly clean and decontaminate all instruments and equipment following each use and before sterilization. • Sterilization: Operate sterilizers such as autoclaves, ensuring all items are sterilized according to established protocols and standards. • Assembly and Packaging: Assemble all surgical instruments and other equipment kits in preparation for autoclaving and use in surgeries and other medical procedures. • Inventory Management: Maintain a detailed inventory of all CSSD supplies and instruments, including checking for damaged or missing items and ensuring they are replaced or repaired. • Record Keeping: Keep accurate records of all sterilization processes, including times, temperatures, and any incidents or deviations from standard procedures. • Quality Control: Participate in regular quality assurance checks to ensure that all equipment functions correctly and meets safety standards. • Equipment Maintenance: Perform basic maintenance and report any malfunctions of sterilization equipment. • Compliance: Adhere to all hospital policies and health and safety guidelines to prevent contamination or infection. Education Qualifications • High school diploma or equivalent; further certification in sterile processing or surgical technology is preferred. • Experience in a hospital or clinical setting, particularly in sterilization or a related field. • Knowledge of sterilization practices, aseptic techniques, and infection control protocols. • Ability to operate sterilization equipment like autoclaves.
