About the job

WHAT TO EXPECT

Heron Power is a startup company building cutting-edge power electronics for the 21st-century grid. We aim to debottleneck the growth of electricity generation and consumption with scalable, innovative, and less costly hardware solutions, accelerating the electrification of everything.

Our first goal is to build better converters (inverters & rectifiers) to connect large-scale renewables, storage, and loads to the grid. Heron Power’s leadership team is made up of seasoned veterans who have designed and shipped gigawatts of power conversion products over the past decade.

We understand that no one individual knows everything. We will all learn a lot together and from each other. We strive to build a collaborative, enriching environment conducive to personal, technical, and career growth. You can expect to work in a dynamic and collaborative environment, driven by first principles engineering, solving difficult problems.

JOB OVERVIEW

As a Staff / Senior Staff Global Supply Manager - PCBA, you will lead strategic sourcing and supplier management for the printed circuit boards (PCBs), printed circuit board assemblies (PCBAs), and related electronics manufacturing services critical to Heron Link, our solid-state transformer platform.

You will develop and execute sourcing strategies across PCB fabrication and electronics manufacturing partners, ensuring competitive costs, strong supplier performance, manufacturing readiness, and reliable production capacity.

Working closely with Electrical Engineering, Hardware Engineering, NPI, Manufacturing, Finance, and Supply Chain leadership, you will help establish a scalable electronics supply chain capable of supporting rapid product development and production growth.

This role requires deep familiarity with the PCBA manufacturing ecosystem, including contract manufacturers, PCB fabricators, assembly processes, manufacturing cost structures, and supplier qualification.

HOW YOU WILL CONTRIBUTE

  • Define and own category strategies for PCB fabrication, PCBA manufacturing, and electronics manufacturing services.
  • Achieve cost targets through should-cost modeling, BOM analysis, manufacturing cost breakdowns, and supplier negotiations.
  • Lead RFx processes and negotiate commercial agreements, including piece pricing, tooling/NRE, and contractual terms.
  • Partner with engineering teams on DFM, supplier manufacturing capabilities, component availability, and production requirements.
  • Drive supplier readiness across prototype, pilot, and mass production builds.
  • Manage supplier risks related to cost, quality, capacity, component shortages, and geopolitical exposure.
  • Resolve supplier performance, manufacturing yield, and quality issues with cross-functional teams.

WHAT YOU WILL BRING

We’re open to early to mid-career candidates with or without leadership experience. Scope and responsibilities will scale with the right candidate.

MUST HAVE REQUIREMENTS

  • 8+ years of experience in strategic sourcing or procurement supporting electronics manufacturing.
  • Degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Business Administration, or equivalent experience.
  • Deep category knowledge of PCB fabrication, PCBA manufacturing, and/or electronics manufacturing services (EMS).
  • Experience managing PCB/PCBA suppliers, including manufacturing costs, supplier qualification, and production ramp.
  • Strong negotiation, should-cost analysis, BOM costing, and contract management skills.
  • Experience partnering with electrical engineering, manufacturing, finance, and NPI teams.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally, often with short notice.

NICE TO HAVES

  • Experience sourcing high-reliability PCBAs for power electronics, industrial controls, EVs, or energy storage systems.
  • Knowledge of SMT, soldering, reflow, AOI, X-ray inspection, ICT/FCT, and PCBA manufacturing processes.
  • Experience managing EMS providers and contract manufacturers through NPI and high-volume production.
  • Familiarity with PCB fabrication processes, electronic component supply chains, and IPC standards.
  • Strong data analysis and visualization skills (Tableau, Power BI, etc.).

If you are passionate about technology and enjoy working in a fast-paced environment, we would love to hear from you. Join us in accelerating the electrification of everything at Heron Power.
