Job Summary
The Clinical Laboratory Assistant performs laboratory non-technical tasks to assist laboratory workflow. Performs other duties as assigned.
Essential Functions
- 1. Understands and adheres to the WPH Performance Standards, Policies and Behaviors.
- 2. Monitors pending lists and assists with Add on testing.
- 3. Manages specimens to be given to technical staff for pending tests.
- 4. Processes send out testing to be placed on a packing list to a referral laboratory
- 5. Monitors inventory as required for par levels and storage
- 6. Answers phones and places phone calls are requested.
- 7. Removes and discards specimens that are no longer needed.
- 8. Investigate location and status of specimens in the LIS
- 9. Place specimens in centrifuge and on automated track systems.
- 10. Records temperature, humidity, and other maintenance logs as needed.
- 11. Performs all other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High School Required or
- GED Required
- Previous laboratory experience or healthcare environment experience preferred
