About the job

About Avalere Health

United by one profound purpose: to reach EVERY PATIENT POSSIBLE. At Avalere Health, we ensure every patient is identified, treated, supported, and cared for. Equally. Our Advisory, Medical, and Marketing teams come together – powerfully and intentionally – to forge unconventional connections, building a future where healthcare is not a barrier and no patient is left behind.

Achieving our mission starts with providing enriching, purpose-driven careers for our team that empower them to make a tangible impact on patient lives. We are committed to creating a culture where our employees are empowered to bring their whole selves to work and tap into the power of diverse backgrounds and skillsets to play a part in making a difference for every patient, everywhere.

Our flexible approach to working allows our global teams to decide where they want to work, whether in-office or at home based on team and client need. Major city hubs in London, Manchester, Washington, D.C., and New York, and smaller offices globally, serve as collaboration hubs allowing our teams to come together when it matters. Homeworkers are equally supported, with dedicated social opportunities and resources.

Our inclusive culture is at the heart of everything we do. We proudly support our employees in bringing their whole selves to work with our six Employee Network Groups – Diverse Ability, Family, Gender, LGBTQ+, Mental Health, and Race/Ethnicity. These groups provide opportunities to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion and to connect, learn, and socialise through regular meetings and programs of activity. We are an accredited Fertility Friendly employer with our Fertility Policy, enhanced parental leave, and culture of flexibility ensuring every employee feels supported across their family planning journey and can work in a way that suits their family’s needs.

We are deeply invested in supporting professional growth for our employees through day-to-day career experiences, access to thousands of on-demand training sessions, regular career conversations, and the opportunity for global, cross-capability career moves.

We take pride in being part of the Disability Confident Scheme. This helps make sure you can be interviewed fairly if you have a disability, long term health condition, or are neurodiverse. If you'd like to apply and need adjustments made, you can let us know in your application.

About The Role The Advisory capability within Avalere Health is focused on the intersection of business strategy, public policy, and patient access. Based in Washington, DC, we work with a diverse range of clients spanning pharmaceuticals, biotech, health plans, government, providers, advocacy and patient groups, and other organizations who seek to improve the healthcare system. Avalere’s experts span 150+ staff drawn from Fortune 500 healthcare companies, the federal government (e.g., CMS, OMB, CBO, Congress), top consultancies, and nonprofits. The firm offers deep substance and perspective on the full range of healthcare business issues. We are seeking a Senior Manager to join our Client Partnerships team, the sales function that drives sales, business development, and revenue generation for the Advisory team. This role focuses on Avalere's Core accounts, where we have established client relationships. The Sr. Manager will be the primary commercial point of contact for an assigned set of Core accounts, with responsibility for growing repeat business, engaging new buying centers, bringing in more of the firm's practices, and closing larger engagements. The Sr. Manager is a partner to Subject Matter Expert (SME) colleagues across our Policy, Evidence & Strategy, and Market Access practices and is the chief person responsible for driving the commercial aspect of client interactions, including representing Avalere's services, understanding client needs, translating client needs to a compelling proposal, and navigating client procurement to a closed sale. The Sr. Manager manages client relationships independently and builds trusted advisor status with clients through delivery excellence and strategic insight.

What you'll do

  • Manage client relationships independently and own the account plan for an assigned set of Core accounts, setting clear goals and turning them into actionable plans.
  • Proactively identify opportunities to expand client value and engagement scope within assigned Core accounts, including new buying centers and new client needs.
  • Grow repeat business by staying close to client priorities and building on completed work.
  • Partner with delivery teams to ensure client engagements and workstreams are delivered successfully, building the credibility that leads to repeat business.
  • Bring in more than one practice (Policy, Evidence & Strategy, Market Access) per account where the client need supports it.
  • Pursue larger, multi-workstream engagements, not only single projects.
  • Lead aspects of proposal development, including organizing pursuit teams and contributing to pricing strategies, to address client needs.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts to translate client needs into compelling proposals, solutions, and recommendations that support client decision-making.
  • Use healthcare and life sciences market expertise to inform recommendations and client discussions.
  • Coordinate opportunity teams to execute on account goals efficiently, clarifying roles, ownership, and next steps and removing blockers.
  • Complete a monthly pipeline plan (sales to date, gap to goal, current pipeline, three actions) with your manager, and measure progress against quarterly and annual targets.
  • Keep Salesforce current and accurate for every opportunity you own; use data-driven approaches and tools like ZoomInfo, Outreach.io, LinkedIn, and approved AI tools, and share prompts, workflows, and best practices with the team.
  • Share account insight with practice leaders and the Client Partnerships team, and support continuous improvement of sales processes by reviewing what worked and what did not.
  • Represent Avalere at industry events and professional conferences to deepen relationships with Core clients.

About you

  • Significant knowledge of the life sciences industry, including how biopharma companies make decisions on policy, evidence, and market access

  • Proven success achieving individual sales targets over multiple years
  • Track record of growing existing client relationships and closing six-figure engagements
  • Strong understanding of the sales environment, including sales content, tools and training
  • Experience with customer relationship management (CRM) platforms (e.g., Salesforce), content management, and learning management systems
  • Demonstrated ability to build internal relationships with sales and marketing
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence client and internal stakeholders through clear, persuasive communication

Additional Skills & Competencies

  • Experience in preparing and proofing documents for senior-level audience
  • Demonstrated ability to be flexible in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong ability to multi-task and can prioritize work streams effectively under deadline, with timely execution and resolution of action items
  • Highly organized with strong project management skills
  • Ethical, confident, and creative, with a persistent "can do" attitude
  • Commitment to working in a team environment with an emphasis on collaboration and maintaining positive relationship with colleagues and clients to achieve solutions-oriented goals
  • Proactive mindset and approach, ability to think several steps ahead of known client and teammate needs, challenge assumptions constructively, and suggest improvements to existing processes
  • Open to feedback and learning; willing to coach colleagues, give candid feedback, and support team performance
  • Familiar with developing and maintaining sales plans, managing multiple initiatives/work streams simultaneously preferred
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills such as PowerPoint, Excel, and Word
  • Hands-on use of approved AI tools in sales or client work, including building reusable prompts or workflows for the team, and the judgment to know when AI is not appropriate for sensitive or confidential client information
