Job Description: Holmes Murphy Risk & Safety Intern – Summer 2027 Denver, CO AND Waukee, IA (Onsite)
We are looking to add a Risk & Safety Intern to join our Property Casualty Risk & Safety team in Denver, CO AND Waukee, IA . Offering a forward-thinking, innovative, and vibrant company culture. Join us for our 10-week summer program for an internship opportunity that will give you invaluable insights into the industry while getting exposure to learning and developing skills in the insurance industry, specifically on the risk management and workplace safety side of the Property Casualty business.
You will:
- Learn how Risk & Safety consultants help clients identify areas for improvement in their risk and safety programs by observing and assisting team members.
- Assist with research and analysis of clients’ risk and safety programs and processes, including loss trend analysis across workers’ compensation, auto, property, and liability coverages.
- Support the development of client deliverables such as training materials, safety policies and procedures, and program recommendations.
- Gain exposure to on-site and remote client services such as training seminars, hazard assessments, and strategy development.
- Learn about regulatory compliance and reporting requirements, including OSHA and DOT regulations.
- Participate in prospective client meetings and assessments to understand each prospect’s unique needs.
- Learn about insurance industry trends and how Holmes Murphy collaborates with carrier loss control and underwriting personnel to provide value to shared clients.
- Perform special projects and other duties as requested.

Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled or in pursuit of enrollment at a 4-year institution.
- Examples of majors prior interns have pursued: Risk Management & Insurance, Safety/Occupational Safety, Business, Industrial Hygiene, and more.
- Prior work experience is a plus, preferably in a customer service, safety, or administrative role.
