Job Description Job Description Summary The Institute for Advancing Health Through Agriculture (IHA) at Texas A&M University invites applications for a Postdoctoral Research Associate position in Precision Nutrition, with a strong focus on metabolism–immunity interactions. Research Focus Precision nutrition research at the IHA is dedicated to understanding the mechanisms linking diet to health outcomes by integrating genetic, physiological, environmental, and behavioral factors that influence individual variability and population subgroups. The ultimate goal is to develop personalized, evidence-based nutrition strategies to reduce the risk of diet-related chronic diseases.
The Postdoctoral Research Associate will conduct research on cutting-edge preclinical models to address human-relevant mechanistic questions, with a particular focus on the intersection of metabolic regulation, immunometabolism and inflammation, nutrient sensing and signaling pathways, and chronic diseases including obesity, diabetes, liver disease, and aging-related disorders.
Responsibilities
- Designs and conducts mechanistic studies using preclinical models relevant to human nutrition and diseases.
- Investigates diet–immune–metabolic interactions using molecular, cellular, and physiological approaches.
- Analyzes and interprets complex datasets and integrate findings across systems.
- Prepares manuscripts for high-impact peer-reviewed journals.
- Contributes to grant writing and collaborative, multidisciplinary research initiatives.
- Mentors graduate and undergraduate trainees, as appropriate.
Qualifications Required Qualifications:
- Ph.D. in Nutrition, Metabolism, Immunology, Physiology, Molecular Biology, or a related biomedical field.
- Strong background in metabolism and immunology.
- Demonstrated experience with preclinical (animal) models.
- Proven record of scientific productivity (publications).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in immunometabolism, inflammation, or nutrient-sensing pathways.
- Expertise in techniques such as metabolic phenotyping, flow cytometry, molecular biology, or omics approaches.
- Strong quantitative, analytical, and communication skills.
- Interest in translational and human-relevant nutrition research.
All positions are security-sensitive. Applicants are subject to a criminal history investigation, and employment is contingent upon the institution’s verification of credentials and/or other information required by the institution’s procedures, including the completion of the criminal history check.
