Network Software Engineer

Network-Side PHY / MAC Software Engineer @San Diego, CA **Only locals or candidates willing to go onsite **Only candidates open to 1099 contracts may apply

What You’ll Do: ● Building PHY and MAC software for our ground infrastructure: real-time protocol processing in our bent-pipe satellite architecture, network-side scheduling, and protocol state machines ● Simulation-first development: validate protocol behavior in simulation before integration; own the network-side simulation environment ● Protocol interface definition: specify and maintain the boundary between network-side and endpoint firmware so that both sides can develop in parallel ● AI-augmented development — treat AI tooling as a core productivity multiplier in signal processing, protocol implementation, and test generation

Required Qualifications: ● Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent ● Real-time software development experience in a commercial wireless system — has owned protocol software running close to the hardware, not just above an abstraction layer ● PHY or lower MAC domain knowledge — understands spread-spectrum waveforms, frame structures, synchronization, and what happens when things go wrong at the physical layer ● Strong C/C++ and Python fluency for protocol implementation and simulation toolchain work ● Simulation methodology — does not wait for hardware integration to validate protocol behavior

Strongly Preferred: ● DSP background: has implemented or debugged signal processing algorithms in software ● Cloud protocol implementation: distributed state machines, network schedulers, or similar server-side protocol logic ● RTOS or real-time Linux experience for time-sensitive protocol processing

Nice-to-Haves: ● Satellite communications experience ● Network management or provisioning system background ● Rust proficiency
