Job Description Summary

Job Description Role Summary

The Director, Plant Systems Product Service Engineering is a mission-critical Executive Role with Enterprise Accountability for the technical strategy, Service Engineering performance, customer experience, and future technology influence for GE Vernova’s Global Steam Turbine Fleet, Generator Fleet, and Balance of Plant (BoP). This leader oversees a globally-aligned, 150+ person multi-disciplinary organization responsible for the critical integration of Steam Turbines, Power Train Dynamics & Diagnostics, Generators, Accessories, Controls, and Electrical Systems. This organization will be responsible for enhancing service technology, integrating customer and fleet data, resolving complex technical issues, and improving the reliability and availability of the broader power plant ecosystem.

The role serves as the final technical authority for the most complex system-level interactions across the global installed base. The leader owns the technical resolution model for 15,000+ Engineering Request (ER) cases and 100+ Root Cause Analyses (RCA) annually. By driving a unified technical strategy across these distinct, yet interdependent disciplines, the leader ensures the stability of the entire plant powertrain, minimizes operational risk, and maximizes customer value through enhanced availability and reliability. A 4-point improvement in power plant availability across a targeted fleet represents approximately $2B in annual customer value , underscoring the scale of the business impact. This position requires an executive capable of synthesizing complex technical data into high-level business strategy, influencing cross-functional stakeholders, and transforming the customer experience across a massive, mission-critical global fleet.

The role also provides executive leadership for customer-facing technical engagement, including development and presentation of Users Conference content for targeted technologies as well as direct interaction with customers and insurers to support technical credibility, risk mitigation, and confidence in fleet performance. In addition, this role influences the development of next-generation Plant Systems Technology by translating fleet experience, root cause learnings, and customer needs into product requirements, serviceability improvements, and future design direction.

The role shapes technical priorities and operating strategy across a large, multi-disciplinary organization and exerts significant influence across engineering, services, product management, commercial, external stakeholders, and regional teams. It requires executive judgment, strategic thinking, and the ability to lead across complex technical, organizational, and customer-facing challenges with broad autonomy and high accountability for business impact, fleet outcomes, and organizational performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide Executive Leadership for Plant Systems Global Product Service Engineering, including technical support for the installed base, customer issue resolution, fleet issue management, service bulletin implementation, fleet configuration, outage support, and lifecycle fleet engineering.
  • Own the end-to-end customer experience and technical resolution model across approximately 15,000 Engineering Request (ER) cases and 100 Root Cause Analyses (RCA), driving improved speed, quality, consistency, and closure effectiveness.
  • Lead a large, multi-disciplinary organization of engineering and technical professionals, including people leaders and senior technical experts, with accountability for performance, capability development, and organizational effectiveness.
  • Lead Power Train Dynamics & Diagnostics responsibilities for Gas Power Engineering to ensure product and service design decisions support fleet reliability, maintainability, serviceability, and long-term customer outcomes. This includes developing next generation technology for Data Center applications.
  • Partner cross functionally with Product Management, Global Services, Commercial, Supply Chain, Quality, Manufacturing, and regional teams to align technical solutions with business priorities and customer needs.
  • Build and retain a high-performing engineering organization through coaching, succession planning, talent development, and creation of a culture of accountability, innovation, and customer focus.
  • Lead the stabilization of HA Power Plant Technology through disciplined root cause analysis, issue resolution, and close partnership with design teams to improve fleet performance, reduce risk, and support platform scale-up as related to Plant Systems scope.
  • Drive measurable improvement in HA Power Train Availability from a current baseline of approximately 90%, creating substantial customer and business value through engineering resolution, design-service integration, and operating discipline, as related to Plant Systems.
  • Drive value creation of approximately $2B in annual customer value associated with improved HA Power Train Availability across the installed fleet, as related to Plant Systems.
  • Lead the development of Users Conference content for Plant Systems technologies, ensuring customer-facing technical forums communicate fleet learnings, service strategy, reliability improvements, and future technology direction with credibility and impact.
  • Serve as a senior technical interface with customer insurers, providing engineering insight, technical credibility, and risk-based communication that supports customer confidence, claim-related discussions, and fleet risk mitigation.
  • Influence the development of next-generation Plant Systems technology by translating installed base experience, fleet issues, service feedback, and root cause learnings into product requirements, design improvements, service offerings, repair strategies, and future technology direction.
  • Set strategic priorities, technical direction, and operating mechanisms for the organization in alignment with product, services, and business objectives.
  • Drive transformation in how engineering support is delivered by improving case management, issue resolution, knowledge reuse, root cause analysis quality, and feedback loops into design and service processes.
  • Influence Plant Systems service strategy by identifying emerging fleet trends, recurring issues, design vulnerabilities, and opportunities to improve reliability, availability, maintainability, safety, and customer value.
  • Oversee the use of fleet data, service analytics, customer feedback, and root cause insights to inform technical decisions, design enhancements, and support strategies.
  • Serve as a senior technical and organizational leader for Plant Systems service matters, representing the function in executive forums and driving alignment on priorities, tradeoffs, and resource decisions.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, quality, regulatory, and GE Vernova policy requirements across all engineering and service support activities.

Required Qualifications
