About the job
About this role: Wells Fargo is seeking an experienced Forward Deployed AI Specialist to help shape AI-powered trading workflows within Corporate & Investment Banking. This is a hands-on individual contributor opportunity to combine deep technical AI expertise with trading-domain knowledge and direct partnership with trading stakeholders to solve complex, high-value problems.
As a Forward Deployed AI Specialist, you will embed with trading, product, and operational teams to understand market data, trading analytics, execution, and post-trade workflows; identify opportunities for agentic AI; and rapidly design and prototype solutions that deliver measurable value. You will work at the intersection of trading, technology, data, and risk—building solutions that are innovative, practical, and deployable within a highly regulated environment. Successful candidates are equally comfortable engaging with senior trading leaders, working hands-on with modern AI technologies and trading data, and partnering with technology teams to transition solutions from prototype to production.
In this role, you will:
- Partner with trading, product, and operational teams to identify workflow needs, pain points, controls, and transformation opportunities; translate requirements across market data, quantitative analysis, execution, risk limits, position keeping, and settlement into technical designs, workflows, and prototypes.
- Develop solutions for trading analytics, market information processing, execution, and post-trade analysis. Select the right approach (machine learning, generative AI, agents, or no AI), define success criteria, and prototype with product and technology teams to test value with trading users and representative market data.
- Apply large language models (LLMs), agentic systems, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), tool use, orchestration, and evaluation methods to trading workflows and analysis of financial news, filings, and market indicators.
- Partner with technology teams to take AI solutions from concept through production, delivering measurable improvements in desk productivity, analytics, execution, and operational effectiveness.
- Partner with Risk, Compliance, Legal, Privacy, Information Security, and other control teams to ensure AI solutions are explainable, auditable, and aligned with governance standards and trading controls.
- Develop reusable AI patterns, capabilities, tools, evaluations, and reference architectures across trading desks and asset classes.
- Stay current on AI technologies, frameworks, and best practices for trading, and build AI fluency across trading teams
Required Qualifications:
- 10+ years of Artificial Intelligence Solutions experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
- Direct experience applying market data feeds, including Level 1 and Level 2 market data and order book dynamics, to quantitative analysis or automated execution and analytics workflows across equities, fixed income, FX, or derivatives.
- Hands-on experience designing and orchestrating agentic AI systems for trading or capital markets workflows.
- Understanding of trading controls and post-trade workflows, including risk limits, position keeping, and settlement.
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience deploying AI-powered solutions into production trading or capital markets workflows with measurable business impact
- Experience with large language models (LLMs), retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), and evaluation frameworks for AI-powered solutions
- Experience rapidly prototyping AI solutions using Python, notebooks, or low-code tools while maintaining a production-oriented mindset
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to engage effectively across trading, technology, and control functions
- Knowledge of model governance, AI risk management, responsible AI, privacy, and information security practices
- Experience with cloud-based AI platforms, enterprise data ecosystems, and production AI deployment patterns
- Experience working with high-frequency tick data, Level 2 and Level 3 order book reconstruction, bid-ask spread dynamics, and order execution mechanisms to support trading analysis and execution workflows
- Exposure to algorithmic trading strategies, automated execution loops, and back-testing frameworks, including approaches to handling look-ahead bias and slippage
- Experience applying agentic AI systems to process real-time financial news, filings, and market indicators in support of quantitative strategies and trading desk workflows
- Understanding of mark outs and transaction cost analysis (TCA)
