Backend Software Engineer The Opportunity: As a back-end developer, you know that a good site or system needs the right combination of clean code, APIs, analytics, and infrastructure to develop a user-focused solution. We’re looking for a back-end developer with the software engineering skills it takes to help identify potential risks, contribute to solution development, and create efficient and effective systems for our clients.
As a back-end developer at Booz Allen, you’ll use the latest architectural approaches and open-source frameworks and tools to help deliver solutions. Using your software engineering knowledge, you’ll work with and learn from the development team to create custom tools, systems, and sites with consistent performance and scalability.

You Have:
- 5+ years of experience designing, modifying, developing, writing, and implementing software programming applications
- 5+ years of experience with software development using basic programming languages, technologies, tools, or web development stacks
- Experience switching between different program languages and learning new ones
- Experience with Agile methodology, extreme programming, software engineering, product management, and software products
- Experience writing source code for new applications or generating and enhancing code samples for existing applications
- Experience performing code reviews and debugging merge requests
- Ability to work with automated testing tools to perform testing and maintenance
- TS/SCI clearance
- Bachelor's degree or 8+ years of experience in software engineering in lieu of a degree
- Ability to obtain DoD 8570 Compliant Security+ or CISSP Certification within 30 days of hire
Nice If You Have:
- Experience with Java, Databricks, C#, C, C++, JavaScript, SQL, Python, Server-Side Development, Middleware, Application or Data Integration, API Development, Core Application Systems, Node.js, Quarkus, Spring Cloud, Spring Core, Spring-Boot, or Spring Data
- Experience creating solutions for large data sets and managing data stores
- Experience with structured and unstructured data types, especially non-textual sources such as video, audio, and imagery.
- Experience creating solutions to complex problems within a collaborative, cross-functional team
- Experience with administration of continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines using Jenkins, Gitlab, or GitHub actions
- Knowledge of standards in JavaScript, JSON, REST, CORS, Web architecture, and HTTP specification

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual’s particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $69,400.00 to $158,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen’s total compensation package for employees.
