Daikin Applied is seeking a Prototype Fabrication Technician. The Prototype Fabrication Technician will create machined parts, assemblies, and sheet‑metal components by interpreting blueprints, sketches, photographs, and verbal instructions, selecting appropriate materials and fabrication methods, and operating a wide range of machine tools and welding equipment to produce high‑quality components. Under general supervision, this position will maintain a safe and organized model shop, provide basic training to personnel, recommend process improvements, and ensure proper handling of tools, equipment, and stock to support efficient shop operations. Location: Onsite, Plymouth, MN (1st shift)
Your Responsibilities:
- Create machined parts, assemblies and sheet metal components using blueprints, sketches or verbal direction. Review sketches, drawings, photographs, mating parts, verbal and written descriptions to determine metal type, fabrication method, fastening and assembly points, raw stock, fastener sizes, hole locations, part dimensions, fabrication sequence, methods, and procedures
- Operate and maintain a wide variety of machine tools in a safe and efficient manner including; milling machines, lathes, drill presses, punch presses, sheet metal shears and brakes, welding and brazing equipment, etc.
- Provide recommendations to Management regarding procedures, process improvements and equipment upgrades
- Maintain cleanliness of the Model Shop area and ensure proper handling of tools, equipment, and stock to prevent loss
- Ensure safe and efficient operation of Model Shop through the training of personnel, organization of equipment, and management of toolcrib and Technology Center supplies
- Train other employees in day-to-day procedures.
Your Qualifications:
- Associate’s degree or Equivalent Experience
- 0-2 years of relevant experience
Your Preferred Qualifications:
- Universal Refrigeration Certificate

The typical hourly rate for this position ranges from $28.65 to $37.68 per hour in Minnesota. The range displayed represents the pay range for all positions in the job grade which this position falls. Individual base pay will depend on a wide range of factors including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
