We seek an individual who will strengthen the integration of theory and practice while building partnerships among academia, industry, government agencies, and professional organizations. The successful candidate will provide strategic leadership for Ohio State's nationally recognized Construction Management program and help position it as a national leader in preparing the next generation of construction professionals. This includes engaging at the local and national level with industry. Areas of expertise may include heavy civil infrastructure, construction engineering, commercial building, construction project management, project delivery, digital construction, building information modeling (BIM), virtual design and construction (VDC), construction automation and robotics, artificial intelligence, digital twins, advanced sensing technologies, structural systems design and construction, construction safety, concrete construction, sustainability, site development, and workforce development.
Candidates appointed to either the tenure-track or professional practice track will provide leadership in undergraduate education through teaching, curriculum innovation, student mentoring, and program development. The successful candidate shall provide leadership and coordination across OSU’s construction-related academic programs by fostering collaboration among FABE, the Agricultural Technical Institute (ATI), and the Department of Civil, Environmental and Geodetic Engineering (CEGE). This leadership will coordinate curriculum across campuses, including teaching across campuses as well, which will strengthen transfer pathways, expand interdisciplinary educational opportunities, enhance student recruitment and retention, and deepen engagement with industry partners to address Ohio's growing construction workforce needs.
For candidates appointed to the tenure-track, the Kokosing Endowed Chair is expected to establish and sustain a nationally recognized, externally funded research program that advances the construction industry through innovative scholarship and technology development. Research areas may include digital construction, construction automation and robotics, artificial intelligence, digital twins, advanced sensing, project delivery, infrastructure resilience, construction safety, sustainability, and workforce innovation. The successful candidate will mentor graduate students, secure competitive external funding, and develop interdisciplinary research and outreach programs that leverage OSU’s exceptional faculty expertise, research centers, statewide facilities, and industry partnerships. Active collaboration with contractors, infrastructure owners, transportation agencies, professional societies, industry associations, technology providers, and government organizations will be essential to translating research into practice and enhancing the national prominence of OSU’s Construction Management program .
