Job Description: We’re seeking a Technical Lead, known internally as a Staff Engineer , to play a pivotal role in shaping and delivering modern retail technology solutions. This is a senior individual contributor role with high autonomy, ownership of technical strategy, and influence across our Stores portfolio. You'll partner with stakeholders, influence technical direction, align teams around a shared vision, and ensure technology solutions support the evolving needs of our stores and customers.
What you’ll do:
- Lead design and delivery of end‑to‑end applications (SQL/Data, APIs, services, UI)
- Own epics and act as Lead Engineer on medium–large initiatives
- Define technical strategy and architecture across multiple domains
- Drive DevSecOps, non‑functional requirements, and operability (performance, security, resilience)
- Take hands‑on ownership of complex features and services
- Partner closely with Vendors, Product, Platform, Infrastructure, Security, and global teams
- Manage COTS applications across their full lifecycle
- Uplift engineering standards, processes, and best practices
What you bring:
- Senior/lead‑level application development experience
- Proven ability to influence architecture and lead complex initiatives
- Strong communication and collaboration skills in global teams
- Retail, e‑commerce, or FMCG experience (preferred)
- Azure certifications and cloud cost optimisation experience (preferred)
Technical skills:
- Data : SQL (ETL/ELT), ADF
- Backend/API : .NET Core, C#, REST, event‑driven, Apigee
- Azure : App Services, Functions, Azure SQL, Storage
- Security : OWASP, ISO27001, IAM, encryption
- DevOps : Jenkins, Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions
- Frontend : Blazor, Razor, Telerik
- Containers : Docker, Kubernetes
- Reporting Tools : JIRA, Confluence, Service Now
