Backend Software Engineer

About the company Our client is a fast-growing technology company. The role Raydar is recruiting for this role on behalf of our client. Take ownership of server-side systems that handle large volumes of information, guiding work from initial design through release and operation. You will also create supporting tools that show how the systems are behaving. The position is hands-on and closely collaborative within a compact engineering group. What you'll do - Develop and scale backend services that transform large datasets across several processing stages. - Own services from design through delivery, including debugging and confirming that outputs are correct. - Make recovery behavior such as reruns, reprocessing and reversions predictable and safe across asynchronous workers, message queues and file storage. - Put checks in place so data problems are found before anything is handed to customers. - Create internal dashboards and tools to monitor system health and examine the quality of results. - Partner with colleagues in machine learning, full-stack, platform and security to support new types of input. Requirements What we're looking for - At least 3 years of experience releasing and running production server-side software. - Solid grounding in distributed and asynchronous design, including concurrency, repeat-safe operations and recovering from partial failures. - Strong skills in a general-purpose backend language such as Python, Go, Rust or Java. - A track record in a young, fast-moving company where you handled uncertainty and took real ownership. - An undergraduate STEM degree from a leading US university. - A curious, inventive approach to data, with willingness to build your own tooling to understand system behavior. Bonus points - Familiarity with AWS and workflow or batch scheduling tools. - Time at a well-recognized employer in addition to startup experience, showing steady career growth. - A full-stack mindset.
