About the job

This contract role is for a WiFi security engineer developing and debugging embedded WiFi firmware for resource-constrained connectivity devices. The core requirements are WiFi driver and supplicant/hostap integration, embedded TCP/IP networking, WPA2/WPA3-Personal and PMF, and WPA2/WPA3-Enterprise security using 802.1X/EAP-TLS. Candidates should also be proficient in C/C++, RTOS development, and wireless packet capture-based interoperability debugging; the stated experience band is 5–9 years. The role is based in Bengaluru, Mysore, or Chennai, while the description does not specify remote or onsite work arrangements. Zephyr, NXP RW61x or Silicon Labs platforms, healthcare IT exposure, and assembly familiarity are preferred or additional advantages. Responsibilities

• WiFi firmware development – driver, TCP/IP networking (lwIP/Zephyr/net stack/TLS/MQTT) in embedded environment.

  • WiFi firmware development – driver, TCP/IP networking (lwIP/Zephyr/net stack/TLS/MQTT) in embedded environment.
  • Implement and validate WPA2/WPA3-Personal security modes, Protected Management Frames (802.11w) implementation.
  • WPA2/WPA3-Enterprise (802.1X/EAP-TLS) – ownership from supplicant configuration to certification.
  • Strong proficiency in embedded WiFi firmware development: WiFi driver and wpa_supplicant/hostap integration, and TCP/IP networking (lwIP/Zephyr net stack, TLS, MQTT) on resource-constrained devices.
  • In-depth knowledge of WiFi security and association mechanics: WPA2/WPA3-Personal (SAE), transition mode, PMF (802.11w), 4-way handshake, and scan/connect/reconnect behavior; hands-on WPA2/WPA3 Enterprise (802.1X/EAP-TLS) experience strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience debugging AP vendor interoperability issues (e.g., Cisco, Aruba, Meraki, Ruckus) using wireless packet capture tools (e.g., Wireshark or specialized sniffer equipment).
  • Familiarity with enterprise/managed network environments (VLANs, RADIUS, captive portals, client isolation); healthcare IT environments a plus.
  • Understanding of BLE/WiFi 2.4 GHz coexistence mechanisms and RF fundamentals.
  • Proficiency in C/C++ and familiarity with assembly language.
  • Experience with real-time operating systems (RTOS) programming and debug; Zephyr experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of debugging tools and techniques (e.g., JTAG, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers).
  • Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git) and issue tracking tools (e.g., Jira).
  • Embedded WiFi firmware development, including WiFi drivers and wpa_supplicant/hostap integration
  • TCP/IP networking on embedded devices, including lwIP or an RTOS network stack
  • WPA2/WPA3-Personal security, including SAE, transition mode, and association behavior
  • Protected Management Frames (PMF, IEEE 802.11w)
  • WPA2/WPA3-Enterprise security using 802.1X/EAP-TLS, from supplicant configuration through certification
  • C/C++ programming for embedded systems
  • Debugging WiFi interoperability with access points using packet capture or wireless sniffers
  • RTOS programming and debugging
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field
