We are looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic self-starter to join our team as a Senior Principal Ecology Consultant , supporting projects across the UK region.
Your Role
•
- ·Lead a team of 30 ecologists.·
- The candidate will demonstrate an understanding of UK clients' requirements and be able to reach back into the business to get the support required to fulfil those requirements and develop relationships/work.·
- Leading on multi-million capex large projects or frameworks, inputting or overseeing project programmes and budgets.·
- Collaborating within multi-disciplinary teams and engaging with stakeholders/clients.·
- The candidate will engage with other areas of the business, seeking opportunities to cross sell and leverage AtkinsRéalis' capabilities, preparing bids, supporting on strategic opportunities, building client relationships (internal and external) and driving work-winning in the region.
- Undertaking technical checks and reviews of a range of ecological reports and licence applications.·
- Undertaking ecological assessment and habitat design for a variety of development and nature recovery projects.·
- Supporting the development of innovative and pragmatic approaches to ecological mitigation and compensation.
- Delivering clear and concise, high-quality ecological deliverables in line with current guidance and good practice.·
- Candidate may coach, mentor and support other staff members in their development.·
- Task/project management.
About you
• A minimum of 15 years of overall professional experience in ecology, including at least 8 years supporting projects in the UK, US, Australia and/or European markets.

- An exemplary working knowledge of the UK natural environment and wildlife legislation.
- Experience of working on Nationally Significant Infrastructure Projects and familiarity with the Development Consent Order (DCO) process would be viewed favourably.
- The ability to undertake and provide technical advice on Preliminary Ecological Appraisal, Ecological Impact Assessment and Biodiversity Net Gain assessments.
- Strong project management experience, including technical delivery, financial management and quality assurance.
- Experience in protected species, mitigation and licensing.
- Demonstrable experience of bidding and tendering, particularly in the UK region, including work winning and maintaining strong client relationships.
